A01 Rust Belt Percussion Compilation
Cassette/USB/Booklet/2 Scrolls
The first in a series of releases focusing on percussion music by regional composers and musicians, Rust Belt Percussion features compositions from 11 artists working out of Buffalo, Toledo, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Indianapolis.
The compilation showcases the diversity of approaches percussionists in the region have pursued: performances include solos for drumset (John Hubbell), mallet percussion (Corey Denham, Rob Funkhouser, David Bernabo), and electro-acoustic and extended technique improvisations (Orsan Abram, Ben Dumbauld, Justin Von Strasburg). The compilation also contains sample-based percussion pieces (Hellcat Sneer, JP Kowalski), as well as two duets: one for 2 drumsets (Byzantine Generals), and one between drumset and saxophone (Skeletonized).
The compilation includes a cassette tape, a thumb drive with digital versions on the materials, as well as two scrolls with assorted download codes and links. Also included is an 11-page booklet with composer information and artist notes. There are 4 variations of the booklet, and 8 variations of cassette label, making each compilation essentially unique.
Edition of 50 .
